On Jan. 31, following a series of storms and heavy rainfall, parts of the trail flooded around the 500-metre mark. Parks staff are monitoring the situation and will determine when the trail can safely reopen. First, the water levels must recede.

A hundred wooden stairs take you down to a rocky beach and a good cave for hiding treasure. There are picnic sites containing barbecue pits at the top of the stairs, with a view across St Mary's Bay to Brier Island.
