Dec 1, 2016 · When you rightclick a material, you have a submenu for duplicating with two options: Duplicate; Duplicate with shared assets "Duplicate" will duplicate the material and duplicate all its assets. That way the user can make changes to the assets without ever having to worry they are affecting another material because the assets are linked.
To duplicate an asset of a material. Select the material in the Material Browser dialog. In the Material Editor panel, click the tab for the asset to be duplicated (for example, Appearance, Physical, or Thermal). Click Duplicate Asset . The duplicated asset is copied to the asset library for the current project. Click Apply or OK.
