Ending Guide: How to Escape the Island and Unlock All Endings

Finally ready to escape the remote cannibal-filled island? This ending guide will explain everything you need to know about beating the story in Sons of the Forest, including finding the final bunker location, escaping the island, and how to achieve all three different ending variations.

•Prerequisites for Escaping the Island
Before you can begin your escape from the island, you'll first need to ensure you have obtained the following items and equipment - click the links below to learn how to find all the requirements:
•Rebreather
•Rope Gun
•Shovel
•Maintenance Keycard
•VIP Keycard
Once you have obtained and completed all of the prerequisites, make your way to the eastmost green circle marker on your map - this is located not too far from the beach.
When arriving at the final bunker, equip a powerful weapon and your Flashlight, and continue inside and down the sets of stairs.
When reaching a long corridor at the bottom, continue forward all the way to the end - don't forget to loot the suitcases for general supplies along the way.
When reaching the end, continue down the stairs and through the next room. Reaching another corridor, head left (right will simply lead to a bedroom, where you can sleep and save your progress).
Continuing down the corridor, you'll soon reach a lobby - round the corner and continue through the door along the wall.
Entering a large hotel suite, you'll find the Rescued! Book on the table to your right.
Once you reach the end of the cave, squeeze through the gap in the wall, and you'll encounter Timmy once again - if you need a rehash, Timmy is the young boy you rescued during the original game.
Following Timmy into the large golden cube, you'll notice that he is carrying a laptop with a countdown timer. As you both begin to make your way inside the cube, it will begin to close its door unexpectedly.
Once the door is shut, Timmy will glance once again at the countdown timer, but before it can hit zero, you'll both become briefly overwhelmed by the vibrating of the cube, and you'll begin to hallucinate. During this scene, Timmy is seen cloning himself multiple times, becoming more and more distressed with each new clone appearing.
Not long after the hallucinations begin, they'll quickly stop, and you'll notice that a window has now appeared on one side of the cube, depicting an expansive futuristic city. While it's not confirmed, many believe this could indicate that the cube could be a trigger to accessing alternate dimensions.
Given that the hallucination and mysterious futuristic city appeared after the countdown timer hit zero, we can only assume that Timmy knows more about the situation and the power which the cube holds.
Once the view of the city disappears, the door to the cube will open, revealing a large mysteriousmutantt that wasn't there before the door closed - how it got there, we're not exactly too sure. Following this encounter, Timmy will help you leave the cave and return to the surface, where Eric will arrive via Helicopter to help escort you off the island.
Now, here's where the different endings take place, as you can opt to board the Helicopter and leave the island for good, or you can pick up the backpack that's a short distance away to continue your quest of living out your days on the remote island, defeating any Cannibals that stand in your way.
With that said, there are three different endings that can take place, with two being just slight variations. It's also worth noting that each ending will offer a unique Steam achievement. So, if you're curious, here's what you need to know.
•Keep Your Friends Close Achievement -
•Fought Demons Achievement -
When given the choice, you will need to select the option to board the helicopter with Timmy and Eric. Now, to ensure you unlock the Keep Your Friends Close achievement, you will need to meet two conditions:
•Kelvin's alive.
•You managed to befriend Virginia.
If you have met these conditions, both companions will board the helicopter and will escape off the island with you - this is considered the best ending.
The Fought Demons ending is nearly identical to that of the Keep Your Friends Close ending if you opt to leave the island and board the helicopter - this achievement will trigger no matter if your companions are present or not.
Having survived the nightmarish cave and strange visions inside the golden cube, you'll unlock the Fight Demons ending by picking up your backpack and refusing to board the helicopter with Timmy and Eric. Opting to continue your journey alone on the island, the chances of ever being rescued again are slim, so you'll want to start preparing for the long haul.
