Feb 11, 2022 · The solution was in the Messages control settings of the new iPhone. In the Messages settings there are "Send and Receive" options under the iMessage radio button. The devices listed in the "Send and Receive" list have to include the phone number of the iPhone being used.

Aug 16, 2023 · If you see that “Send as SMS” and “MMS Messaging” are already enabled, disable them and re-enable them. I recommend the settings shown above and found in my case I had to quit and restart Messages on my Mac too, before it all began to work again.
