Mar 9, 2023 · Most people think the big push to abolish the monarchy will come after Queen Elizabeth II's death, and before Charles is officially crowned. The royal family, naturally, is prepared for this and rumor has it they'll make sure Charles is crowned before the Republicans make too much noise.
However, the family would probably donate a lot of family heirlooms and personal jewels to the state because the eventual inheritance tax bill would be crippling. Currently the monarch is exempt from inheritance tax and that would obviously end if the monarchy was abolished.
