Mar 25, 2014 · The Bible regularly refers to the human heart. Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And to love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:29-30). Proverbs 4:23 indicate that guarding the heart protects the wellsprings of life.
Theology by heart is one of the methods of theological reflection that is mentioned in Graham, Walton and Ward's "Theological Reflections: Methods". This is a method of Theological Reflection that is deeply personal, as it involves an individual looking at themselves rather than at external factors in an effort to find what they truly believe.
The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all persons (Titus 2:11): (a) the requirements of the law are written by God on every heart (Rom. 2:15), (b) Jesus Christ knocks at the door of every heart (Rev. 3:20), (c) the Holy Spirit calls and convicts each person (John 16:8) and (d) God's eternal power and divine nature are evident in the world around us (Rom 1:20).

No one has ever developed theology in a vacuum, and this was true of the apostle Paul as well. The Holy Spirit led Paul into the truth of the Christian faith, but the Spirit also used many aspects of Paul's cultur...
In our day, we often think of serious theologians as scholars who sit in a quiet office and devote themselves to abstract, academic matters. This is why so many today think of theologians as disconnected from the challenges that ordinary Christians face day after day. But Paul's theological teachings were not disconnected from life. Rather, Paul's ...
In one way or another, all followers of Christ organize their Christian beliefs. Even if we've never articulated how we do this, we have sets of basic beliefs that shape what we think about God, ourselves and the world around us. And these basic beliefs impact other things we believe. They guide us as we go about our daily lives. Well, the same was...
In this lesson we've begun to explore the heart of Paul's theology by noticing the interconnections between the life of Paul and his theology. We noted how Paul's cultural background in both Jewish and Gentile contexts deeply shaped his theology. We looked into some of the ways Paul's apostolic ministry led him to apply his theology to the practica...

Mar 1, 2021 · For Wesley, the “heart” represents the true centre of the person—it defines who he is, the essence of his character. The “heart” therefore reveals the true self of an individual, more than do his outward actions, which can be hypocritical and deceptive. The heart, Wesley says repeatedly, discloses the “tempers” of the individual. [1]
Here is the basic definition of theology: Theology literally means “the study of God.”. But theology is so much more than that. When theology is truly studied, it ushers you into a deep relationship with God. Theology is not simply the study of God, but an interaction with God, a conversation with Him and with others about the deep ...
