  1. High School Admission Pre-requisites. To complete one of the ten undergraduate programs of study in the Department of Chemistry, you must first apply for admission to the Faculty of Arts & Science in either the Physical and Mathematical Sciences or the Life Sciences admission categories.

    This is for the exceptional student with at least 85% in Grades 10 and 11, who is highly recommended by the school (at least two letters), and who has written parental permission. Students with special aptitudes who may not have 85% will also be considered.

  3. In order to specialize in some disciplines at The University of Winnipeg, you need to have completed specific high school courses or "prerequisite courses." If you are considering any of the majors below, make sure that you take the required high school courses.

    • English. Requirements: Four years of English are required to graduate high school. Freshman and Sophomore years: Classes during these years will be primarily focused on developing writing and critical reading skills.
    • Math. Requirements: At least three years of math, including algebra and geometry, is required to graduate high school. The typical course order is: Algebra 1.
    • Science. Requirements. Two to three years of science, including biology and chemistry, is required to graduate high school. Freshman year: Biology. Sophomore year: Chemistry.
    • Social Studies. Requirements: Three years of social studies, including US history, is often required to graduate high school. Freshman year: Introductory course.
