Under Hockey Canada’s policy, CSSHL programs are required to have all of their student athletes attend one school that is aligned with the CSSHL program. In some cases, a program will also be aligned with a middle school if their high school does not offer younger grades (Grade 8 or 9) for U15 athletes.

During the 2021-22 season, the CSSHL will feature 26 Accredited Schools/Schools with Residence and 94 teams in eight different divisions. All programs within the CSSHL are sanctioned Hockey Canada Accredited Schools or Schools with Residence, meeting the regulations of not only Hockey Canada, but their respective provincial or regional members.

Founded in 2009, the five original members of the CSSHL were the Banff Hockey Academy, Edge School, International Hockey Academy, Okanagan Hockey Academy and the Pursuit of Excellence.

Current Co-Founder, and Head of Recruitment & Scouting for CSSHL member program Bourget College, Michaelson joins the CSSHL League Staff as Eastern Canada Coordinator. Michaelson comes to the CSSHL with a highly decorated resume, having worked in various roles at both the elite minor hockey, junior stream and a total of six years coaching in the NCAA and European professional leagues.
