  2. May 30, 2009 · This book is the topic of a Lenten book study group at my church, so having a priest to guide us is very helpful. 3. Aug 16, 2006 · This book was written prior to him becoming pope and it is more of a collection of separate essays on various topics than an original book (well, I did not actually check to make sure that's what it was before I returned it, but it read like that). I would like to encourage you to take part in a modest three-part experiment with me. In the first stage of our experiment we determine our current rhythms of life. On this sheet I am going to invite you to write six headings (which is quite a few, but you will only need enough space under each to write two or three lines). The six headings are: 1. Contemplative 2. Holiness 3. Charismatic 4. Social Justice 5. Evangelical 6. Incarnational T...

When I first drew up a personal Rule of Life as part of my preparation to become a Franciscan, I found it helpful to see someone else’s Rule, to get an idea of what I was wor...

This leads us to the final part of our experiment: practice. You now have before you two documents, one describing your current rhythms of your life, and another outlining the rhythms that could be. They are not wildly divergent (at least, if you have exercised good sense and moderation, they should not be), but they are different. If you maintain ...

  5. Nov 30, 2023 · The creed’s first article reveals a Creator whose actions are driven by love—nay, who is love. We are defined in relation to this fatherly Creator as creatures who are loved with an eternal and unending love, a love that takes on flesh. The God who made us as bodily beings and pronounced it as all “very good” enters history bodily.
