      • A real Atari disk is a complex mess of adhesive magnetic stuff, made sense of by a dedicated floppy disk controller and then made useable by a computer in the disk drive. All these things boil the structure of the real disk down to a specific number of useable sectors for each recording surface, each of a fixed length.

  1. Nov 24, 2015 · You can make ATR files of non copy-protected disks using a real Atari drive and an SIO2PC cable/software. Just set it up so there are two drives -- the real drive and a virtual drive with an empty ATR image.

There are some with header added like HDR - it contains mostly CHS parameters for old hard disks. That's pretty much obsolete now.
