The Sutro Baths were opened to the public as the world's largest indoor swimming pool establishment in 1896. They were built on the western side of SF by wealthy entrepreneur and former mayor of San Francisco, Adolph Sutro. The facility burned down in 1966 and is now in ruins and part of the National Park Service.
