It’s 256. Pretty much any significant number in Minecraft is a power of 2 (16, 64, 256, etc) ok, not trying to correct anyone, just wondering, was experiencing the very confused. Because of the fact that you can place a block at y=0, and the highest at y=255, the world is 256 blocks high, but you can only build up to 255.
