Pistol case + 5 stacks of ammo is only like 22kg. ammo case would be 32kg full of shotgun shells. Less tbags needed. Can also bring it inside gamma opposed to Icase.
I wouldn't worry about buying cases at all. Unless it's a key tool, docs case or sicc case. Once you hit level 30 you will get a quest from therapist and the reward is a thicc items case. The gunsmith quest from mechanic will reward you with a magazine case and 2 ammo cases.
