Jul 21, 2017 · Like it will actually not launch? It launches fine in Win 10 x64 on my end. But then again I have an updated version than the trial available as I purchased APE long ago. The premise is easy. Connect SIO2USB from the PC to the atari, launch the app, mount a disk, turn on the atari. A free app that does the same thing can be found here:
I announce a new tool I made: ST Recover can read Atari ST floppy disks on a PC under Windows, including special formats as 800 or 900 KB and damaged or desynchronized disks, and produces standard .ST disk image files. Then the image files can be read in ST emulators as WinSTon or Steem. The program is free and open source. You will find it here:
Detailed instructions regarding Atari VCS PC Mode USB installation can be downloaded here: Link. Boot Order. Installing an OS on an Internal vs External Hard Drive - the boot order for the Atari VCS is: If you install an OS on an external drive, you simply connect the drive to a USB port and power it on in order to boot to it.
NetUSB, parcp-usb, 3.5 inch floppy disk or a gotek. They are all different so google them as a start. Check old threads at Atariage or Atari-forum as this comes up a lot. For applications and games, unless they are extremely rare you can probably already find the disk image on the web. Archive.org is a good place to start.
It works really well - it just dumps the disk into an .ST file for use with an emulator. The only drawback is that it doesn't work with most copy-protected commercial software. You need a PC with a floppy connector and an internal floppy drive. As others have stated, a USB floppy won't work.
Configure the Atari disk drive as drive 1, this is VERY important. Turn on the Atari disk drive and insert the disk you wish to fill with the ATR image. To write an ATR image out to a real disk, press 'W' on the PC. Return to step 3 to write out more disks. Method #3: (Using ProSystem'98 and a real Atari disk drive)
