Dec 7, 2023 · Today, I’m sharing an extended summary and discussion questions on the book “Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People” by Mahzarin Banaji and Anthony Greenwald. This book is a rollercoaster ride through the labyrinth of our subconscious mind, exploring the biases we didn’t even know we had.
Blindspot Summary Strategies for recognizing and mitigating the influence of unconscious biases and mental oversights. Acknowledging the subconscious prejudices influencing our actions, which the Implicit Association Test can help reveal, represents an essential first step.
A major theme running through the book is that the unconscious mind has tremendous power to guide our thoughts, actions, and behaviors. According to the authors, hidden biases exist without our awareness and can only be exposed to us through methods like the Implicit Association Test (IAT).
