”Girls Against God” is a the fifth track from Florence and the Machine’s fifth studio album Dance Fever.
The song was debuted live at the intimate Newcastle show (O2 City Hall) on April 15, 2022. The song was written in the midst of the first UK lockdown during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, reflecting on the impact that it had on Florence’s career and life. It is written as an ironic message to God.
As Florence said on the song’s second performance live at Blackburn (16th April 2022), “this song has, what I call, big lockdown energy”. She added:
