Born or imbued with an innate source of magical power, the Sorcerer is a powerful arcane spellcaster able to twist and manipulate their spells via Metamagic. The ability to customize spells on the fly makes it easy to adapt your spellcasting to the needs of the moment and to maximize the effect of your favorite spells. The Sorcerer’s spell list all...

RPGBOT uses the color coding scheme which has become common among Pathfinder build handbooks, which is simple to understand and easy to read at a glance. 1. Red: Bad, useless options, or options which are extremely situational. Nearly never useful. 2. Orange: OK options, or useful options that only apply in rare circumstances. Useful sometimes. 3. ...

Optional Class Features are detailed below under Optional Class Features. Hit Points: d6 hit points is the lowest in the game, so be sure to take enough Constitution to compensate. Saves: Constitution and Charisma are two excellent saves, since things which effect either of them frequently incapacitate you in some fashion (example: Banishment requi...

Sorcerers are all about Charisma, and you can forego everything else. Str: Dump. Dex: Take a bit for AC. Con: Take some to compensate for your d6 hit points and to support Concentration. Int: A bit for knowledge skills might be nice. Wis: Wisdom saves are common, and Insight is helpful for a Face. Cha: Commands almost everything you do.

Charisma bonuses are absolutely essential. Since you don’t need ability score increases for other abilities, a +1 bonus can often be just as good as a +2, which opens up numerous racial options. Innate spellcasting, flight, and additional skills are all great choices. For help selecting a race, see our Sorcerer Races Breakdown. For a classic sorcer...

Arcana(Int): One of the most important knowledge skills, but you may not have enough Intelligence to back it up.
    Deception(Cha): Important for a Face.
Insight(Wis): Helpful for a Face, but you may not have enough Wisdom to back it up.
    Intimidation(Cha): Important for a Face.

This section does not address every published background, as doing so would result in an ever-growing list of options which don’t cater to the class. Instead, this section will cover the options which I think work especially well for the class, or which might be tempting but poor choices. Racial feats are discussed in the Races section, above. You ...

Dagger: Carry one or two for utility purposes at any level, but the damage isn’t good enough to make it better than shocking grasp. You can make opportunity attacks with a dagger, but that’s not so...
Light Crossbow: Until you hit level 5, a light crossbow can do more damage than firebolt. If you have at least 14 Dexterity, a light crossbow is probably a better option than firebolt when you just...
Quarterstaff: A great cosmetic item, but totally useless in combat. Use Shocking Grasp or a Dagger instead.
  2. Magic is a part of every sorcerer, suffusing body, mind, and spirit with a latent power that waits to be tapped. Some sorcerers wield magic that springs from an ancient bloodline infused with the magic of dragons. Others carry a raw, uncontrolled magic within them, a chaotic storm that manifests in unexpected ways.

  3. Sep 13, 2022 · Sorcerers are one of the most unique spellcasters in D&D 5e. Where Wizards study hard and Warlocks make deals with their patrons, a Sorcerer’s power comes from within themselves. This power might come from deep within their bloodline or be awakened by some other powerful being. It might even just manifest as a type of fate.

    • Absorb Elements : A fantastic defensive option at any level, this will save your life when you encounter an unpredictable source of elemental damage like a trap or a spell.
    • Aganazzar’s Scorcher : Lines are frequently hard to aim, so you’re likely to only hit 2 creatures in most cases. With that same assumption, compare the 3d8 damage of Aganazzar’s Scorcher to the 3d6 damage of Burning Hands which will also likely only hit two targets.
    • Antagonize : Since your target can only attack creatures within its reach when you cast the spell, this is only situationally useful. There’s some functional overlap with Crown of Madness, too.
    • Banishment : Among the most powerful save-or-suck spells in the game for several reasons. First, it’s a Charisma saving throw and very few creatures are good at those.
  4. Standard: The basic out-of-the-box tiefling is a very strong race for sorcerer. Devil’s TongueSCAG: Strictly better than the standard version. FeralSCAG: This one has a bad ability spread for Sorcerer. HellfireSCAG: Burning Hands is worse than Hellish Rebuke, considering your spell spread from your class.
