See, I've started writing a fanfic with a fem!Harry named Holly because I'm not comfortable writing a male MC if the MC is gonna be the main focus of the story (as opposed to dual POV for example), and I don't feel like Harry's gender is that impactful to the story, if at all.

I have seen a few fics where fem!Harry is basically just an excuse to not admit to writing a slash-relationship - the author wants to ship Harry/MaleCharacter but doesn't want to be stigmatized as a slashfic-author, so they just turn Harry female.
