- Recap: Is Fido Home Internet Right For You?
Fido provides basic cable internet service to Ontario, with prices low enough to make them a contender for one of the best internet service providers in the province. We’re especially impressed with their straightforward plans and the ability to bundle them with mobility.
Fido’s plans are great options, but they’re not the only ones available. Let’s take a look at some of Fido’s primary competitors in Ontario to see how they stack up.
Fido home internet is a solid choice for basic internet users in Ontario, with plans that are straightforward and affordable. Fido has the worst network service with a billing department that feels like a rip-off and unhelpful customer service. I contacted them to freeze my line while I was deployed abroad for a year with the Armed Forces.
I've had it for 2 years - use it for browsing, streaming Netflix/live sports and video calls. Had absolutely no issues and thought it was great value until the last 3 months, when we started having frequent disconnects and buffering watching TV (one or two dropouts about every other night).
So I’ll save $5 for 2 years then be paying more unless I can find another good plan. This plan is only 4G but I’m thinking that may be fine because 5G sucks everywhere that isn’t underneath a tower. Also, I believe Fido is under Rodgers network, which had the outage this summer.

What happened to Fido Home Internet?
No, they are worse. Fido is quite possibly the worst communications company in Canada, and that is saying something. I can't believe that I found a company worse than Rogers (screw you Rogers), but if they aren't worse, they are just as bad. Rogers is a money grab, but Fido is just a useless prick.
