Greater Toronto English, or simply Toronto slang, is a dialect found primarily in Toronto, primarily spoken by Millennials and members of Generation Z. English is one of two official languages of Canada, with the other being French.
According to the 2021 Census, 42.5% of Toronto residents had a mother tongue other than English or French. This represents a slight decrease from the 2016 figure of 43.9%. Just over one half of all Toronto residents (50.2%) reported English as their sole mother tongue.
