Optical storage refers to a class of data storage systems that use light to read or write data to an underlying optical media. Although a number of optical formats have been used over time, the most common examples are optical disks like the compact disc (CD) and DVD.
Jul 26, 2022 · Optical storage devices store information in the form of a physical binary code. They do this with the help of the laser source and lens of an optical disk drive. Essentially, the laser source creates a laser beam while the lens guides the direction of the beam to mark dots around the disc’s surface.

Sep 5, 2021 · An optical drive is a device that reads and/or writes data onto a disc. To read/write data onto a disc, an ODD uses a laser diode to receive and send electromagnetic waves. Receiving these waves allows your computer to access what’s on the disc. Sending these waves enables the computer to write files onto the disc.
