Jan 2, 2020 · For policies expiring on or after July 1, 2020, Insurance Code § 678 will now require a 75-day notice of non-renewal. If the insurer does not give timely notice, the policy will remain in force, with no changes to its terms and conditions until 75 days after the notice of non-renewal is sent.
Policies will be written for a maximum 12-month term only. An initial term less than 12-months can only be written to ensure that the policy expiration date coincides with the expiration date of another insurance policy held by the named insured (for example, a California FAIR Plan policy).
