The ACA Government Afairs and Public Policy team advocates on behalf of ACA members and the counseling profession on a range of issues, including (but not limited to) Medicare reimbursement, licensure portability and funding for school counseling programs.
The intent of this chapter is to introduce one milestone, the American Counseling Association (ACA) Advocacy Competencies, and describe the events leading to their development. We then provide an overview of the Advocacy Competencies model including its dimensions and domains.
