The parade, now in its 50th year, started at the corner of East 146th Street and Kinsman Road and wrapped up at Luke Easter Park. The yearly event celebrates community and political empowerment.

The day of remembrance brings together residents who march in the parade and cheer from the sidelines in a joyful celebration of what Shaker Heights is: connected, diverse, and supportive.
The parade proceeds east in the westbound lane of Van Aken Boulevard to the Van Aken District. Any person or group within the City of Shaker Heights, its residents, institutions and businesses located within the Shaker School tax district may participate in the Parade.
