Health Care Aide Alberta Health Services (AHS) offers a training program for people to become certified Health Care Aides in rural and remote areas. Earn a Government of Alberta Health Care Aide Provincial Curriculum 2019 Certificate. The Health Care Aide program focuses on developing the core skills needed for individuals with various health care needs. Topics include personal care, assisting with mobility & nutrition, communication, assisting with medication delivery, and clinical skills.
Certified: HCAs who have successfully completed and received a Health Care Aide certificate in Alberta. Substantial Equivalence : Graduates of a Health Care Aide program outside of Alberta, internationally educated nurses; and individuals with education as a Health Care Aide, personal support worker, continuing care assistant, nurse, or other profession considered to provide direct patient care.

To receive their Health Care Aide Certificate from the Government of Alberta, students who have completed the courses and practicums in the Health Care Aide program must pass the provincial certification exam. Successful completion of this exam is a prerequisite for Centre collégial de l'Alberta certification.
