Calamity changes many vanilla items and mechanics. You can read these changes here. Summoner weapons and minions will have 25% reduced damage if used along with weapons from a different class. The Rogue class is a new class created by the Calamity Mod.
Mage, the most improved class overall. In vanilla, it was quite defensive. Here, it can hold its own as one of the best classes in Calamity. It makes you feel like a badass, high DPS, fun to play as. Summoner, arguably the most different class in the entirety of Calamity. It's actually pretty good, only flaw is that the minions are idiots.
Entering Hardmode massively expands the gear options for every class. Life Fruits are available immediately, and you can create a Comet Shard to increase your maximum mana. You can beat Queen Slime or Cryogen for better gear.
