"Muriel's Wedding" (1994) is the saddest comedy you'll ever find. It's such a heartbreaking story about self-loathing but it also offers a lot of hope. Toni Collette is so relatable as Muriel and absolutely devastating.
The former tries to make it a revenge comedy but it sure as hell isn't that either. I'm not gonna lie I really enjoyed this one.. it wasn't what I was expecting but this is one of the few occasions where that works really well in the movie's favor.
