  1. Admissions. Dates & deadlines. Dates & deadlines Important academic dates. There are three entry points for many graduate programs: September, January and May. Find entry points and deadlines for your program on its program overview page. Explore programs.

    • Choose a program. There are several different masters, doctorates, graduate certificates and diplomas so you’re sure to find the right fit at UVic. Just make sure you meet the minimum admission and language requirements for the program you’ve selected.
    • Find a supervisor. In most cases, you need to find a supervisor before you apply. Find information on potential supervisors, areas of research and contact information on our program overviews.
    • Apply for admission. When you apply online you will need to provide: information for all post-secondary institutions where you registered for courses, and upload all required documents.
    • Check application status. Shortly after you apply, we’ll send you an email with your UVic student number, followed by instructions on how to check your application status online.
  2. Graduate students can apply for Spring 2025 graduation if you take your last course or defend your thesis in Fall 2024 (September - December) or Spring 2025 (January - April). Post-graduation work permit (PGWP) After completing your program of study at UVic, you may be eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) and stay in Canada to work for up to 3 years.
