Aug 17, 2005 · basically, the player that makes a throw (leading to an out) gets the assist. The player who catches that throw and makes the tag or force out gets the put out. Also a player cathcing a fly ball gets a put out I believe. somehow this all also applies to catchers on strikeouts etc., but someone else needs to help. I forget how that works.
