That final scene of “The Third Man” somehow works for me — powerfully so. I see all the ambiguity you point out, and perhaps even more elements of ambiguity than you’ve expressly mentioned. Nothing can dissuade Anna from holding sacred Harry’s memory. She’s absolutely blind and stubborn in her devotion — and still grieving.
