Jan 4, 2022 · Answer. Among many other places, Psalm 145:3 declares, “Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” Dozens of verses describe God as “great” and give as evidence His wondrous works (e.g., Psalm 86:10; 96:4; 135:5; Job 5:9; 9:10; 1 Chronicles 16:24).
We are talking of the greatness of God. And what do we mean? He is incomprehensible. It refers to three things: what He knows, what He does, and who He is. Let us start with what He knows. Why is God so great that it is impossible to know what He knows?

God’s greatness is manifested in His creation, His miraculous deeds throughout history, and His unwavering faithfulness towards His people. He is the ultimate source of all greatness and sets the standard for what true greatness looks like.

God is greater than any human we would consider to be great. He is worthy of our worship and adoration: "For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God" (Psalm 86:10). The greatness of God and of His works is mentioned all throughout the Bible (e.g., Psalm 96:4; 135:5; Job 5:8–9; 9:10; 1 Chronicles 16:24; 29:11).
