In Islam, these conditions are not stigmatized; rather, they are acknowledged, and solutions are provided. Let’s explore the Islamic perspective on mental health, drawing from the Quran, which Muslims believe is the word of God, and Hadith, which are sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
Generally, less disruptive mental health issues (e.g., depression, anxiety) are not acknowledged as illnesses, leading to a negative attitude toward seeking mental health services (Tanhan, 2017; Yıldırım, 2021). Understanding effective strategies to overcome the lack of knowledge about mental health services among many Muslims is crucial.
