SPOILER Death Note TCG writes his name in kanji (the original Japanese not the localized version). Localization of manga/anime or character's name in Netflix adaptation does not count.
Jul 2, 2016 · En masse the whole fledging Death Note fandom suddenly had to teach themselves not to say Yagami Tsuki (or Yagami Raito) as assumed, but the now familiar Yagami Light. Some still got it wrong - misunderstanding the correction as being from Tsuki to Raito - like in the panels above, produced by an unofficial early translator of Death Note manga chapters into English.
When you watch the anime in Japanese, Ryuk always calls him Raito. Just like Ryuk's name in Japanese is Ryuku, since Japanese words can't really end with a 'k'. According to the 4th Japanese live-action movie Death Note: Light Up the NEW World, Light had a son named Hikari Yagami and the Japanese word for "light" is "hikari", so Light had a son named Light, lol.
