The Nurse Competence Scale research findings can be used to continuously evaluate nurses’ competence for manage-rial, educational and health policy purposes. Our systematic review indicates the need for high-quality language translations and methodologically rigorous cross-cultural studies.
Results showed that the Nurse Competence Scale covers both ontological and contextual compe-tence, that the competence profiles vary in different cultures, cohorts and contexts, but that it is suitable for evaluating and following up competence development in nursing.
