Sep 22, 2022 · A church family provides support during the hardships of life, like when someone faces the loss of a loved one or losses their job. A church family celebrates life’s greatest milestones, too, such as a new baby, or marriage, or baptism. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24).

- Attend Regularly. The expectation is not that church members will never miss a Sunday or that they will be a part of every single church function. There are times when you won’t be able to be at a worship service and you can’t be involved in every ministry.
- Pray Consistently. It is essential that the church be united in prayer, seeking God’s blessing on the work of the church and the Gospel’s impact in your congregation, your community, and beyond (1 Thessalonians 5:17; Romans 12:12; Colossians 4:2).
- Live Communally. There are many ways to develop relationships with others in the church. Whether you are involved in a ministry team, small group, Bible study, or other group we are called to develop close relationships with others so that you may encourage one another, pray for one another, build one another up, and hold one another accountable as followers of Christ.
- Submit Humbly. Church members are called to submit to the church’s leadership and teaching. Hebrews 13:17 says “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account.
- Teamwork & togetherness. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 teaches us the importance of teamwork and togetherness. Modern culture often promotes the self-made and self-reliant lifestyle.
- Love for one another. Being part of a church family enables us to be loved and to love others in a way that is different to how love is perceived in a secular society.
- Teaching & encouraging. One of the key benefits of being part of a church family is the opportunity for encouragement and teaching. Hebrew 10:24 calls believers to ‘consider one another in order to stir up love and good works…” and 2 Timothy 3:16-17 emphasises the importance of teaching each other what God has revealed in Scripture so “that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
- Service to others. Being part of a church family is not just about receiving. There is also value in having the opportunity to help other believers. Serving – whether by providing encouragement, volunteering, teaching a bible study class; or praying with someone – gives us a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
The value in having a church family is not only in receiving—receiving love, bearing lighter burdens, learning truth that equips, and having help to overcome sin. There is value also in having the opportunity to give in each of these areas to other believers.
Jul 10, 2020 · Churches need natural families, because they can show the church how to be a family; but natural families also need the church—no family can or should be spiritually self-sufficient. The extended family groups in our church usually sit together, but there’s always room for one more.

May 2, 2023 · The church family is called to grow spiritually together, spurring one another on. Second Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
