Ghost in the Shell (1995) is a very cerebral movie. you can't just shut off your brain for slapstick comedy. Because of that, it makes it harder to watch than other shows. It's a storyline that's beautifully produced and executed.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie’s plot is a nice change-up from the cyberpunk psycho-drama that seems to embody the franchise itself. That said, though, at times, it does still feel as if the writers wanted to make the story more complex than it needed to be.
I'm going to agree with another commenter that if you like the Major and crew, you should find the Stand Alone Complex, which is a ghost in the shell series. Death Note is probably a good one to watch, it's got a lot going on.
Mar 7, 2024 · This is a good, if short, film. It's not so concerned with its story as much as it is with presenting a beautiful visual experience. Halfway through the film, it gets interrupted with a montage of the city, just to set the tone and show off the animation.
