Feb 17, 2021 · February 17, 2021 – Following an independent review of its subsidiary’s operations, Manitoba Hydro is reorganizing Manitoba Hydro International. “The reorganization will further strengthen our governance, oversight and public accountability that Manitobans expect and deserve,” said Marina R. James, Manitoba Hydro board chair.
The subsidiary was still making money, but their margins had shrunk considerably over the last four years. This is also the service that least aligned with Manitoba Hydro’s core operations. The reorganization of MHI is the second major move Hydro has made with its assets in recent months after selling off its 40% share in Teshmont on Oct. 1.

In February 2021, a reorganization of Manitoba Hydro International included the decision to wind down MHI operations.
