Grenada, MS is a town with an interesting history. It was purchased from the Choctaw Nation in 1830 and two separate towns, Pittsburgh and Tullahoma, were founded. - Crappie Fishing on Grenada Lake. This is by far one of the most popular things to do in Grenada. Like I said, people come from all over the country just to crappie fish on Grenada Lake.
- Kayaking in the Lee Tartt Nature Preserve. Less than five minutes from downtown Grenada, you’ll find the Lee Tartt Nature Preserve. The preserve was named after James Lee Tartt who was a special agent for the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and member of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety SWAT team.
- Visit Downtown Grenada. One thing I really regret is not having time to go shopping downtown. Over the last couple of years there has been an increase in local businesses opening, like many downtown areas in small towns.
- Stop at the Grenada Lake Visitors Center. This is a fun stop if you have nature lovers in your group or history buffs – especially kids. The Visitors Center has a theater and exhibits that highlight the lake, its natural resources, and the history of the area.
