    • Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Located near the summit of Rich Mountain just off Highway 88 in Mena, Queen Wilhelmina State Park provides the most breathtaking and panoramic views of the surrounding country that you won’t likely see anywhere else on your trip.
    • Talimena Scenic Byway. Considered stunning and unforgettable by previous visitors, the Talimena Scenic Byway is one of the most scenic stretches of road anywhere in the region.
    • Lum and Abner Store and Museum. Located on Highway 88 in the nearby town of West Pine Ridge, the Lum and Abner Store and Museum were named after popular radio characters in the ‘30s and ‘40s that were created by two local men.
    • Cossatot River State Park. Arkansas’ Cossatot River winds its way through some of the state’s most scenic and rugged areas, and the 12-mile stretch near Mena draws visitors from all over the southeast.
    • Float down the Buffalo River. The first national river in the USA is still one of the most beautiful. The Buffalo National River runs across a wide swathe of northern Arkansas, and the western portion of its watershed, which touches the Boston Mountains, is widely considered one of the most beautiful stretches of this waterway.
    • Appreciate a masterpiece at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Amidst the state parks and renowned hikes, you will find something completely different – Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art – an art museum that looks like a set piece from a science fiction movie, built by the Walton family (the folks who started Walmart).
    • Hike or drive to the summit of Mt Magazine State Park. The highest point in this mountainous state is Mt Magazine State Park, but don't let that statistic intimidate you.
    • Cycle some of the best mountain biking trails in the US. We are going to really annoy some people in Colorado with this next claim, but here goes: the Ozarks might be the best mountain biking destination in the USA.
    • Attend a Razorback Basketball Game. Basketball is my favorite season and there is nothing more fun than “calling the hogs” in Bud Walton Arena at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
    • Take in the Christmas Lights. There are many places in the state to enjoy the holiday lights in Arkansas. The Lights at Garvan Woodland Gardens are some of our favorite.
    • Go see the Trumpeter swans at Magness Lake. One of the most interesting winter activities in Arkansas is to pay a visit to the Trumpeter swans. A group of swans over winter on a few small lakes near the town of Heber Springs.
    • Do some winter hiking. Winter in Arkansas is one of the best times to go hiking. No heat, no bugs, and no snakes. Because the summer foliage is so lush the fully leafed out trees can obscure your line of sight.
