For thousands of years, people have hunted for the lost treasures of the First and Second Jerusalem Temples. The story begins about 2,500 years ago, when several biblical accounts— 2 Kings 25:13-17, 2 Chronicles 36:18-19, and Jeremiah 52:17-23 —narrate the removal of treasures from the First Temple by the invading Babylonian armies.
The First Temple contained five altars: one at the entrance of the Holy of Holies, two others within the building, a large bronze one before the porch, and a large tiered altar in the courtyard. A huge bronze bowl, or “sea,” in the courtyard was used for the priests’ ablutions.

- There were actually two Temples on the same spot. The first Temple, built by King Solomon in approximately 1000 BCE, was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE.

The purpose of the wood chamber was to select wood for the altar and hearth. A chamber for lepers existed where those healed of the disease and purified remained prior to being admitted to the inner court. There was also an oil and wine chamber to store these staples for the temple's use.
