"Paint It Black" was recorded March 6–9, 1966, at RCA Studios in Hollywood. The session was produced by Andrew Loog Oldham, who had been working with the Rolling Stones since 1963 and played an instrumental role in shaping their sound and image—and arguably more of the latter than the former.
The Rolling Stones originally recorded Paint It, Black written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and The Rolling Stones released it on the single Paint It, Black [US] in 1966. It was also covered by Stephanie Jackson, Mike Tripps, Jody Grind [GB], Alex de Grassi, Michael Manring, Christopher Garcia and other artists.
