4th. Website. www.bentoncomo.com. Benton County is a county located in the west central part of the U.S. state of Missouri. The population was 19,394 as of the 2020 Census. [1] Its county seat is Warsaw. [2] The county was organized January 3, 1835, and named for U.S. Senator Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri.
FORMATION. The act creating Benton County bears date January 3, 1835. Its original boundary lines took in twenty-four square miles of what is now Pettis County, and was the northwest corner of the county of Benton.

As the area grew and prospered, the court ordered the area to name a county seat for Benton County. After several years of heated disputes, Warsaw was declared the capitol in 1835, but it took seven more years for the name of Warsaw to become official.
