The CTV Television Network, commonly known as CTV (an acronym of Canadian Television since the logo ident of 1998), is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. Launched in 1961 and acquired by BCE Inc. in 2000, CTV is Canada's largest privately owned television network and is now a division of the Bell Media subsidiary of BCE. [ 1 ]
The network was called The Canadian Television Network – CTN. Spence Caldwell was its President, with Gordon Keeble as Vice-President. Michael Hind-Smith was Vice-President Programming and Sales. CTN’s first full season started on October 1st 1961, after much pressure to get a national microwave system in place.
