The perfect town in blue velvet hides an insidious night life and by the end of the film the two worlds collide violently. It’s the same in mullholland dr only substitute Hollywood for suburban town. David lynch also references the wizard of oz in a lot of films and the wizard of oz is also an allegory for Hollywood.

Mulholland Drive is possibly my favorite movie of all time and by far my favorite Lynch. The experience of watching it for the first time was the most powerful experience I’ve ever felt from a film. The man behind Winkies, the scene where the girls break into the apartment and find the dead body in the bed, and of course the Silencio scene.
