For me personally, surrealist films or films with a touch of surrealism/surrealist elements, are one of my favorite films to watch. Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, The Lighthouse, 8 1/2, the Holy Mountain, Brazil, the Double Life of Veronique, Playtime, Persona, even Red Desert or Once Upon a Time in America. Jan 4, 2024 · Mulholland Drive had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, where Lynch won the Best Director prize (which he shared with Joel Coen for The Man Who Wasn’t There), whereas the movie itself garnered overwhelming critical acclaim.
