Nov 2, 2020 · A small village grew up in and around Davison Station as it came to be called, with Misters Dunn & Darling establishing the first sawmill in its boundary. With the mill came the town’s first doctor, D. W. L. Hanson, first merchant, Damon Stewart, and E. W. Rising, the first tavern keeper.

Oct 14, 2016 · Three years after the organization of Adams county the first settlement of this township was made, having been first settled by Jacob Franks and A. N. Penrod, in the fall of 1828. On Dec. 6, 1831, David Locke and Joseph Linthieum came; Dixon Tungate and N. D. Harris came in 1832; Aberdeen Mallet came in 1833.
Early Richfield History. All of the territory in this part of Summit County had once been occupied by Native American tribes including the Miami, the Pottawatomie, the Delaware, the Shawnese, the Ottawa, the Seneca and a Mingo settlement on the Cuyahoga River in Boston Township.
Richfield Township experienced a great expression of historical interest in August of 1996 as it celebrated its sesquicentennial year. The township supported a private group of individuals in publishing a 500-page book, Richfield Remembers the Past, about the community’s 19th century heritage.
Dec 27, 2019 · We grew up in a small town of Sparta, Illinois, there were only about 3,200 people that live there. So we had three doctors for about a population and maybe the sign outside Sparta used to say 3,200 people of course, that was 1939, 1940. And so that was my experience with a doctor.
