Mark Keane, VM Oak Park hosts a meeting of managers. ILCMA is formed with William Wolf, VM Wilmette, elected president. Another 17 communities adopt CM form, most by referendum. Dr. Gilbert Steiner, from UIUC, provided the impetus for that first meeting.
Richfield didn't stay big for long. In 1886 St. Louis Park became a separate village, and in 1889 what was called "west Richfield" became Edina.
May 4, 2018 · This detail from page 27 of the 1870-71 Sellers & Bates Pekin City Directory shows W. H. Bates’ account of the vote and local census that enabled Pekin to become an incorporated city in August of 1849. It would be more than a decade before Pekin found itself on surer footing.
