This page is dedicated to THX Certified video game releases, and whatever trailer they may have. What constituted a THX Certified Game was that the game was designed and created solely in a THX Certified Studio, not that the video or audio was completely certified by THX, like a film was. THX Certified Games debuted between 2003 and 2010 and are generally not as well remembered as DVDs or VHS ...
Technique: CGI. Audio: The -1.5 Deep Note as heard on the DVD and Tex versions. The Matrix variant uses the normal Deep Note, as featured in the Science trailer. None, or the game's opening theme for the still variant. Availability: Seen in THX-certified games. The original variant was spotted on Shadow Ops: Red Mercury, and Madden 06, but ...
- Introduction
- Trailer
Introduced to games in 2003, THX initially did a fair amount of work on EA titles. The original long version of this trailer was only seen on four games. SSX 3, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, and Shadow Ops: Red Mercury. Most certified games used a shortened version of the trailer, an image of the THX logo, or a different trailer entirely.
•MLB 08: The Show, MLB 09: The Show and NBA 09 (PS3) all use the Cavalcade trailer.
•Lair (PS3) uses a custom version of the Tex 2 trailer.
•Jak X: Combat Racing, MLB 06: The Show, NBA 07 (PS3), and MAG all use the Science trailer.
Long Variant
The -1.5 (C#) Deep Note plays as the text "Experience THX®" fades in. The text then fades out and the THX logo with "Certified Game" below it fades in. A lens flare then goes across the bottom of the THX logo and the logo fades out as the lens flare reaches the right side of the logo.
Short Variant
The -1.5 (C#) Deep Note plays as the THX logo fades in, the lens flare already going across the logo, faster than in the long version. On some releases, the text "Experience THX®" appears below the logo.
Scarface: The World is Yours
A chainsaw roars to life as the Science THX logo appears. A lens flare goes across the logo quickly as the Deep Note plays out quickly.
Nickname: "The Gaming Experience". Trailer: We see the words "Experience THX", which dissolve and the THX logo appears. It shines as usual showing the text "CERTIFIED GAME" below. Variants: On Scarface: The World is Yours, the Deep Note starts after an ignition sound is played. In The Matrix: Path of Neo, the logo zooms in as Matrix lines, then ...
The Lucasfilm byline variant can be seen on various THX-certified DVDs from 2000 to 2005, mostly on films from Pixar (such as Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story 10th Anniversary Edition, and Finding Nemo) and Fox (such as Speed 2 and The Day The Earth Stood Still), as well as THX Demo discs, the DVDs that came with second-edition and third-edition copies of the book DVD Demystified by Jim ...
