Animals at the player-owned farms go through various growth stages. For animals at the Manor Farm, there are typically four growth stages: child, adolescent, adult, and elder. Some animals (chickens, spiders, and dragons) start out as eggs and therefore have five stages instead of four. At the Anachronia Dinosaur Farm, all animals have five growth stages: egg, child, adolescent, adult, and elder.

An elder ceremony is performed when a Clan cat feels as if they cannot serve their Clan anymore, whether it's through aging, illness, or injury.
An aging warrior, queen, or medicine cat may retire as an elder due to own initiative, when they feel they cannot help the Clan efficiently any more (such as Mousefur or Speckletail). A cat may also retire if they are hindered from serving their Clan through old age (such as Poppydawn), illness (Tawnyspots), or injury (Stonepelt). They report this to the Clan leader, who calls a Clan meeting and addresses the warrior.

Honestly, yes. Capcom designed the endgame loop of getting Elder/Deviant eggs to be a grind fest requiring you to farm dens to get 100 bottle caps. I highly doubt Capcom is gonna be happy to know you can get an unlimited amount of Elder/Deviant eggs by spending 100 bottle caps once.

Black dragons are the highest-levelled farm animal players can raise on Manor Farm. They require level 92 Farming to check and raise. Black dragons may be stored in the large pens and will eat meat and fish. When harvesting produce, they will give two black dragonhides. They can be obtained from breeding, or checking an unchecked black dragon egg.

Placing an elder dragon of any breed in a large pen with a farm totem grants the perk "Dragon Ultra Combo", granting a 1/1,000 chance of receiving an ancient effigy when checking a fully grown Farming patch that was treated with ultracompost. If elder dragons are placed in two pens with farming totems, the chance is increased to 1/750.
