Fairy Tail was pretty okay in the beginning, got quite interesting during the Fairy Festival, went downhill a bit afterwards and had a completely amazing Tenroujima-Arc, just to fuck up with the worst tournament arc in recent history. Afterwards it went into a rapid decline. The ending was terrible, yes.
